WHRO HONORS AREA SCHOOLS IN GREAT COMPUTER CHALLENGE
Junior Division Honors Awarded on April 29th

Hampton Roads:  WHRO, Old Dominion University and the Consortium for Interactive Instruction held the annual Great Computer Challenge (Junior Division) at ODU’s Webb Center on April 29, 2006.  The Great Computer Challenge (Junior Division) is a competitive opportunity for students in grades K-5 to demonstrate their skills in various computer applications and computer programming, including Graphic Arts, Desktop Publishing,  and Internet Scavenger Hunt.  

Teams representing independent and public schools all across Hampton Roads participated in the annual event.  Top honors went to Carrollton Elementary School (Carrolton), Norfolk Collegiate (Norfolk), Machen Elementary (Hampton); Windsor Elementary (Windsor), Fairfield Elementary (Virginia Beach), Linkhorn Park Elementary (Virginia Beach), Dreamkeepers Academy (Norfolk), St. Andrews Episcopal (Newport News), Nelson Elementary (Newport News) and Greenbrier Intermediate (Chesapeake).

The Consortium for Interactive Instruction is a regionally based consortium of public and private schools and universities that was inaugurated in 1984 and currently represents over 24,000 teachers and nearly 280,000 students in eastern Virginia.
