FIL AM TV JOINS WHRO PUBLIC TELEVISION’S SUNDAY LINEUP
Program to Showcase Hampton Roads’ Filipino American Community

NORFOLK:  Public television station WHRO-TV15 (HD 15.1) will premiere Fil Am TV (Filipino American Television), on Sunday, November 4th at 2:00pm.  Fil Am TV is a weekly half-hour program designed to share the rich and diverse Filipino community with Hampton Roads.  Hampton Roads is home to a growing Filipino population estimated at 40,000. Largely due to the U.S. Navy, Virginia Beach has the largest concentration of Filipinos on the east coast.

Each week, Fil Am TV will showcase local cultural events, personalities, educational and topical issues of the Filipino American community.  The program will also feature cooking segments and a community events calendar.  It is locally produced by Jay Sanchez of Pinoy Productions.

“The vibrant local Filipino community contributes a great deal to the economic and cultural life of Hampton Roads,” said Bert Schmidt, WHRO President and Chief Executive Officer.  “WHRO is especially pleased to be able to share those contributions with the community at large through Fil Am TV.”
